Food at Camp

Meals are an important time for building community at camp as well as nourishing each camper. Camp Weed staff provides delicious, nutritious, kid-friendly food so that campers have plenty of energy for all the fun activities at camp.

Meals

All camp meals are served in Juhan Dining Hall. Our chef and kitchen staff work to ensure that meals are kid friendly so that every camper can find something they like to eat. In addition to the main menu, we offer cereals, bagels, fruit, and more for breakfast, and a salad bar for lunch and dinner. Meals are served at 8 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm.

Food Allergies and Special Diets

If your child has food allergies or a special diet, there’s no need to worry! Our kitchen staff is equipped to accommodate most allergies and special diets, from vegetarians and vegans to gluten and food dye allergies, our kitchen staff will make sure your camper has a diet-appropriate meal.

When you register your camper, just make sure to let us know of any allergies or special diets so our kitchen staff has ample time to prepare. If you don't let us know in your registration, your child may not have a special plate at the first meal. If your child has severe restrictions, we may discuss the need for you to provide supplemental food that can be served by our dining services staff.

Canteen

Once a day our Canteen will be open for all campers. Canteen is our snack shop where campers can select one drink, one cany, and one snack. The cost of canteen is included in your registration fee, so no need to add any additional money for your camper.

Snacks

Campers can bring snacks with them to camp and/or receive them in care packages. These snacks will be kept in the common room of the camper’s cabin and placed in a shared, sealed plastic bin when not being eaten. Please make sure to label all snacks.

We generally recommend not sending your camper with anything that contains peanuts. However, if someone in the cabin does have a specific allergy, no food that contains that allergen will be allowed in the cabin. Any snacks containing that allergen will be collected by the counselors and brought to the camp office for storage. All allergen-snacks will be returned to campers at the end of the week.
