Getting Here

Typical Day

Go inside a typical day at Camp Weed!

Each day at camp is different, but we do follow the same general schedule each day. Here's what your camper can expect during a typical day of camp!

7:00 a.m. - Wake Up and Ace Cabin

Counselors wake the campers up, and they get ready for breakfast! Campers can shower at night or in the morning. After everyone is ready, cabins begin cleaning their cabin for Ace Cabin, our cleanest cabin competition. Campers are responsible for making their beds and cleaning their areas each day, and campers take turns sharing communal tasks such as cleaning the mirrors, sweeping, taking out the trash, and more.

8:00 a.m. - Breakfast

The whole camp gathers at Juhan Dining Hall for breakfast! We meet outside the dining hall to pray for our meal, then head inside to an incredible hot breakfast cooked by Chef Ed and his team. Campers sit with their cabins for this meal. We have a breakfast bar with grits, cereal, fruit, bagels, toast, and more for campers who want something in addition to the food on their table. Our nurse will distribute morning medicine at this time.

After we eat, we clean up our tables by singing camp songs. Cabins take turns setting up and "sweep and wiping" after meals.

For information about special diets, see our Camp Food page!

8:40 a.m. - Morning Worship

After breakfast, we head back outside for Morning Worship. Most of our staff convenes on the opposite side of Juhan Dining Hall for a morning staff meeting while our worship team, leaders-in-training (LITs), and counselors-in-training (CITs) lead the campers in songs and a morning devotion. Learn more about our worship at camp.

9:00 a.m. - Morning Activities

During this time, campers take part in two morning activities they choose at the beginning of the week. Our Morning Activities include archery, aquatics, challenge course, movie making, innovation lab, sports, and more. Campers are welcome to change throughout the week!

11:00 a.m. - Small Group Check In

Most of our deans programs make use of small groups, so at 11:00 each morning we give our campers a chance to check in with these small groups. Small groups consist of campers in the same age range but not necessarily the same cabin or gender. These check ins, led by our LITs and CITs, are a great way for campers to build relationships outside their cabins.

11:20 a.m. - Cabin Time

Each cabin gets together to choose from a list of activities to do alone as a cabin during cabin time. These activities may be swimming, basketball, challenge course, nature hike, or something similar! This helps campers experience more activities at camp and build strong cabin bonds.

12:00 p.m. - Lunch

After cabin time, we head back to Juhan Dining Hall for an incredible lunch! Campers again sit with their cabins at this meal, and we offer a salad bar in the back as an additional lunch option. Wednesday is Crazy Lunch, so make sure to pack a costume!

1:00 p.m. - Cabin Devotion

When lunch has finished, campers head back to the cabins, where their counselors lead an age-appropriate devotion to help campers grow develop their relationships with God and each other. We have some examples on our Faith at Camp page!

1:30 p.m. - Rest Time

The best time? Rest time! From 1:30 to 2:30 each day, we have campers head inside to relax and get out of the sun. Campers are encouraged to rest in their beds and nap or write letters home. This is also a great time to read a book! We don't require that campers sleep, but we do ask that they be quiet and respectful of campers who might want to catch some extra z's.

2:30 p.m. - Afternoon All-Camp

After all our campers and counselors have rested up, we meet together in our Youth Pavillion (YP) for our afternoon all-camp! These are large activities that the whole camp does together. Most of the time, all-camps are done by cabin, so campers still stay with their counselors and cabinmates. Afternoon all-camps might include scavenger hunt, water carnival, prep for our evening all-camp, or something else fun!

3:30 p.m. - Deans Program/Optionals

To start, our younger campers head to deans program, our hour of religious formation each day. While younger campers are spending time with our deans, our older campers have the option to choose between our optional activities for the day. Optionals change each day, and may include anything from tie dye to cloud watching. Canteen, our snack shop, is also open during this time. Learn more about Optionals, deans program, or Canteen!

At 4:30, our campers switch! Younger campers head to optionals, and older campers head to deans program.

6:00 p.m. - Dinner

After a long day of running around, we head back for our last meal of the day. This meal is free sit, so campers can sit with friends they've made throughout the week. Our salad bar stays in the back to provide another alternative.

7:00 p.m. - Evening All-Camp

It's time for our big event of the day! Our evening all-camps are exciting, high-energy events that campers and staff love. Again, the whole camp comes together for these activities, but most involve cabins staying together with their counselors. Some of our favorite evening all-camps include the Camp Weed 500, Tex Madness, Mission Impossible, Prayer Night, and more!

8:15 p.m. - Evening Worship

To help everyone wind down before bed, we transition to Evening Worship after our Evening All-Camp. Leaders-in-Training (LITs), counselors-in-training (CITs), and our worship team take the lead while our staff gathers for an evening staff meeting. The worship team will play a few songs and deliver a devotion before we all head off to bed.

8:30 p.m. - Head to Bed

Campers who take nighttime medication will head to the infirmary, then everyone will head back to the cabins to get ready for bed. Campers can choose to shower at night or in the morning. Many times, cabins will use this time before bed to hang out in the common room and get to know everyone better.

9:30 p.m. - Lights Out

9:30 is lights out for our younger cabins! At this time, everyone gets in his/her own bed, and the counselors turn the lights off. Lights off for older campers is 10:00 p.m.
