Dear Parents and Campers,
Thank you so much for your timely and thoughtful replies to our recent survey about reopening camp in July. This has been very helpful in our careful consideration and decision making.
Based upon all of the available information that we have collected, including the Protocols for Reopening Parishes and Ministries outlined by the special Diocesan Task Force for this purpose, we have decided to cancel our traditional summer camp programs for the remaining weeks of this summer. While this decision has been a difficult one, we are confident that we are acting in the best interest of health and safety for our staff and campers. Additionally, we believe that the communal activities such as singing together, swimming, worshipping, etc., that make Camp Weed’s relationship-building experiences very special cannot be accomplished during these particular times.
While this is not what we had envisioned, we will begin planning for summer camp 2021 in earnest, making it better than ever! Our camp staff will be in touch throughout the summer and will work on ways to bring our campers together as soon as possible.
At this time, more than ever, Camp Weed needs your prayers and your gifts. Please consider donating your summer camp fees as gifts or transferring them to next summer. You may designate your fees for these purposes or to request a refund by accessing this online form.
We are rapidly preparing a summer program for family or small groups that complies with Diocesan Protocols and will offer an opportunity to come to Camp Weed for an organized and staff-sponsored outdoor summer experience. More details on this offering will be shared with you very soon.
Thank you for your patience as we have reached these important decisions. With your encouragement, support and prayers, we look forward to a stronger summer camp program in 2021.
Faithfully,
The Rt. Rev. Samuel Johnson Howard Samantha Marxsen
Bishop Summer Camp & Youth Programs Director
