FAQs

You’ve Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers!

Whether it’s your first time sending your child to camp or your fifth time, you’ve undoubtedly got questions you need answered! To make the process easier, we’ve compiled a list of our frequently asked questions.

If you can’t find it here, you can check our parent handbook or contact our camp director who will gladly answer any questions you have!

Can my child room with his/her friend?

Absolutely! If you have a cabin request, simply put the name in the “cabin request” portion of your registration form.

What activities do you offer?

We offer a variety of activities, from leatherworking to movie making. You can find out more about our activities on our activities and majors and minors pages.

How much does it cost to attend camp?

For most of our sessions, the cost is $450 before April 15 and $475 after that date. To find out more details, visit our dates and fees page.

What if the week for our grade doesn’t fit our schedule?

We’ll work with you! Don’t let the weeks make you feel constrained. You’re free to register for the week before or after your designated time.

What if my child gets homesick?

Homesickness is completely normal! If your child experiences homesickness, we’ll work with him or her to overcome it. If it seems extreme or isn’t improving, we’ll reach out to you. Together, we’ll make a plan about what’s best for your child.

Should I send my child mail?

Everyone LOVES getting mail at camp! It helps campers feel loved and supported. You can send letters or care packages through the mail, drop letters or care packages off at check in, send emails to campermail@campweed.org, or fill out special Camp Weed postcards at check in.

Do you accommodate campers with special needs?

At Camp Weed, we firmly believe that every child should experience camp. We’ll do our best to accommodate any camper who wishes to come. However, we do ask that if your child has special needs you let us know as soon as possible so we can work together to create a successful strategy.

My child is a super picky eater. Will he starve at camp?

No way! The food at camp is great, and we give campers a variety of options at each meal to make sure they’re well-fed. We offer a great salad bar for lunch and dinner and a breakfast bar for breakfast. If you’re still concerned about your camper eating, feel free to pack snacks!

Can we visit before signing up?

Sure thing! Look out for our open houses. If our dates don’t work for you, reach out to our camp director who will schedule a tour with you.

What’s up with Canteen?

After considering many options, we have decided to do away with Canteen for the 2017 summer. Instead, we will offer free snacks to all campers and staff during this time. If you’ve already put Canteen funds on your child’s account, the money will be refunded very soon!

What’s the first day like?

When you and your camper arrive at camp, you’ll be greeted by our staff at the Youth Pavilion. There, you’ll check in, get your cabin assignment, and have the ability to peruse our camp store! After that, you’ll drive over to the cabin, where you and your camper can unload and move in. Cabin counselors will be there waiting to meet you and to help! Once your camper is moved in, he or she will get acquainted with cabin mates, and they’ll get ready for activities.

On the first day, we focus on building the cabin group. We’ll do low ropes, take swim tests, eat dinner, and do an all-camp activity.

If you have any additional questions about our days at camp, feel free to contact us!

What are the living arrangements like?

Campers are grouped into cabins holding 14 campers and two counselors. Each camper will have his or her own bunk bed and share a closet for storage. Each cabin has its own bathroom.

Our cabins are air-conditioned and provide a great environment for campers!

How can I keep track of my camper during the week?

If you like our Facebook page, you’ll see plenty of pictures posted with updates throughout the week!

We’re not Episcopalian. Can my camper still attend?

Absolutely! While faith is the backbone of our camp, we don’t discriminate, and we’ll never force our beliefs on a camper.

Do you perform background checks on your staff?

Yes, we do!
